Four years since his imposing appearance at the 2021 Olympics, Miltos Tentoglou returns to Tokyo, with the aim of first in his final length, in World Open Athletics Championships.
Miltos Tentoglou just needed a jump to pass his qualifying length. The two -time Olympic champion made an effort at 8.17m. It reached the qualifying threshold (8.15m), at 12.6 cm away from the valve, developing a speed of 37.5 km/h.
Miltos Tentoglou thus renewed his appointment for Wednesday’s final (17.09.2025, 14:49), where he would seek to defend the title he won two years ago in Budapest (he had taken gold with a jump at 8: 51m).
George Pomaski’s athlete – with this year’s individual record 8.46m – will be called upon to claim another gold (he has 11 from 2018 until today). A medal that will be the 27th of Greece in the World Athletics Championships and will be followed by Emmanuel Karalis (in 2022 he was second in the Yujin world).
Despite the discomfort he has on his foot, Miltos Tentoglou wants to “finish” the race from the first attempts. He fights first and, as he did in the qualifying, he wants to send the message of excellence to his opponents early.
The top performance of the qualifier was achieved (in his third attempt) by the Jamaican World Champion of Doha, Tange Gail, with 8.28m. The qualifying threshold was also achieved by Spanish -born Leicester Leskai with 8.21m. And the Jamaican Nicaoli Williams, who did exactly 8.15m. The 12th was complemented by the Spanish Haime Gera (8.13m), Swedish Tobia Montler (8.11m), the Bulgarian Bozidar Sarabogyukov (8.10m), the Chinese Yuchao Si (8.08m), the Italian Matthian Matthias Fourki (8.08m) (8.04m), Swiss Simon Echamer (7.99m) and Chinese Mingun Zang (7.98m).
