The inadequacy and ambiguity of the measures announced by the government at the TIF was underlined by PASOK MP, Michalis Katrinispeaking on ERT NEWS ‘morning connections. As he said, “we are waiting for the measures to specialize, because they are not clear. We are afraid that they will not provide solutions and answers to the majority of those who should be beneficial. ” Special reference was made to retirees with a remuneration of up to 800 euros, who, as he pointed out, “will not see even half a euro”, talking about about a million people. Correspondingly, for employees with average salary of 1,300 euros he noted that “they will see minimum to minimal relief”.
As he pointed out, unlike the PASOK government, with the speech of its president at the TIF, he will present in the coming days specific and clear proposals that will concern all categories of citizens.
Commenting on the statements of Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the TIF, Mr Katrinis pointed out the contradiction between the prime minister’s rhetoric and the reality experienced by citizens and the country. “Mr Mitsotakis said he wants to do things that will remind that Greece is increasingly converging with modern European countries. And I wonder, with what is happening – corruption, opacity, dysfunction of institutions and independent authorities – how can such a picture pass when the European Economic Prosecutor’s Office has camped in Greece because of successive scandals? ” He stressed.
At the same time, he criticized the absence of any substantive reference to productive reconstruction and support of the primary sector. As he pointed out, “farmers and farmers are a critical link for the country’s nutritional self -sufficiency and must be supported to stay in the region and continue to produce.” After the OPEKEPE scandal, he added, the prime minister’s position “not only had no reform breath, but more like an attempt to entertain the impressions at the end of a failed governance.”
Referring to the course of the economy, he noted that in July the rate of growth declined due to the decline of consumption, which proves – as he said – that the government is celebrating a growth of no solid foundations. “This is a development based solely on consumption and this is the real productive problem of the country,” he said.
In closing, the PASOK MP responded to the scenarios of cooperation with the New Democracy, making it clear that there is no such possibility. He clarified, however, that PASOK does not avoid dialogue on specific issues and does not remain dogmatically immovable, citing the proposal for the National Baccalaureate. “I wish we could come up with something that will benefit the younger generation and students who are now suffering from the existing system,” he concluded.
