Public transport is a strategic pillar of sustainable urban mobility and a daily choice of citizens, especially in urban centers and of course in Attica. Security in their use is a key prerequisite for more and more people who are moving, especially in these months when millions of tourists visit Athens and increased traffic to and from our airport and ports.
In 2021 we had started the First phase of the “Ariadne” plan To enhance security in the METRO and ISAP. A plan that continued, tested and evaluated positively. For this reason, by incorporating other public transport to a comprehensive policing plan, from February 2025, we are implementing the Second phase of the “Ariadne” plan now covering the subway and ISAP, the tram, the suburban railway and the city buses.
A total of policing grid: pedestrian patrols on trains and buses, police presence at stations, on -board patrols alongside the routes.
To four months of implementation of this new design, we had a daily presence – in these five means of transport – 220 police officers. 120 in ISAP-TRAM-METRO, 43 on the Suburban Railway and 57 on the buses.
The results They are important and highlight the success of this initiative with a significant improvement in the safety of daily use of public transport, contributing to the cultivation of a new culture of gradual detachment from the car. car.

Every day, throughout the country, we embrace the sense of security and fight crime. For this reason, 50 police officers will be added to the plan today, raising the total potential of police officers to 270: 136 to ISAP-Tram-Metro, 47 on the suburban rail and 87 on buses.
