This year’s firefighting season was more effective, as the Kalambaka Fire Service, with the support of the Center, managed to significantly reduce burnt areas. Fire Brigade Commander Vassilis Papageorgiou pointed out that the use of drones allowed fires to extinguish faster, at reduced costs.
In addition, the Municipality of Meteora also takes other actions to further enhance its potential. Recently, he granted a 4 × 4 vehicle to the Fire Service and modernized the existing aquifers. This effort will continue with the acquisition of four new 4 × 4 fire trucks, funding 400,000 euros from the Thessaly Region.
