Mendoni meeting with her Armenian counterpart – Four cultural cooperation agreements were signed

The Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni held a work meeting, at National Gallery – Alexandrou Soutsos Museum, with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyanin the context of its three -day official visit to Athens.

During the work meeting, the excellent level of bilateral cultural relations of Greece and Greece was confirmed Armenian and the foundations were laid for further enhancement and strengthening them with the signature of four important Cooperation agreements.

Specifically, they were signed:

  • • Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation as a whole in the field of culture,
  • • Bilateral Agreement to prevent the illegal trafficking of cultural goods,
  • • Memorandum of Understanding between the Hellenic Audiovisual Media and Creativity Center (EKKOMED) and the Armenian Foundation of Armenia,
  • • Memorandum of Understanding between the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia.

These agreements cover a wide range of cooperation, both in the field of cultural heritage and in modern culture, creating a stable framework for exchanges, synergies and common actions, in the near future. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the common struggle against the illegal trafficking of cultural goods, as well as the strengthening of contacts between the museums and the competent archaeological and maintenance services of the two countries.

Suggestions were also discussed for the joint organization of archaeological exhibitions, craft collaborations, as well as both countries have a long tradition in the field and promoting intangible cultural heritage through joint actions and educational initiatives.

The Minister of Culture of Greece thanked Zhanna Andreasyan’s face for Armenia for her timeless support in international forums, such as in UNESCOand reiterated the readiness of our country to support corresponding Armenian initiatives.

The meeting ended in a particularly warm climate, confirming the deep historical and cultural affinity of the two peoples. After the meeting, the two ministers attended Baroque and Armenian music at the Athens Conservatory, with the entire ancient music of Tagharan.
