Meeting with fishermen in Heraklion, in the shadow of a series of problems they are facing, the Minister of Rural Development and Food had early on Friday, May 9, 2025 Costas Tsiaraslocated on the island, on the occasion of the signing of the Construction of the Construction of the Chania – Heraklion of BOAK, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The president of the Association of Professional Fisheries of the Small Scale of Heraklion Yiannis Androulakis for thanking Mr. Tsiaras for the recent reinforcement they received for the catastrophes caused by the mammals, reiterated to the minister that this issue was not permanently addressed, Fish son, as well as problems of everyday life they face.
Concerning the invasive species, the Minister of Rural Development and Food said that steps would be organized in the coming period “through a specific planning of the Ministry of Rural Development in order to limit the problem and support fishing”, commenting that newer scientific data are expected to promote the more scientific data.
“Fisheries are of great importance to our country,” Mr Tsiaras explained, who first saw the invasive species and disasters.
“I am one of those who believe in fisheries as a very dynamic industry in the primary sector and our national economy,” the Minister of Rural Development and Food said, concluding that measures include measures “in order to keep as many people as possible in fishing, but at the same time to give in to young people”.
The meeting with the Minister was also attended by Stavros Tzedakis Vice -Mayor Stavros Tzedakis.
