The report of measures to deal with fanatic violence 18 months after the legislative initiative taken in February 2024 are currently being presented by Citizen Protection Ministers Michalis Chrysochoidis and Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergis, Deputy Minister Dimitris Papastergios
In summary of the government’s interventions, Mr Skertsos explained that we were “moving to five pillars”:
- tightening the frame of penalties
- We proceeded to camera surveillance systems
- Identification of tickets
- Strengthening administrative sanctions
- New police planning of the police to deal with fan violence
- As he said with the 12 new measures:
- 1072 matches in Superleague 1 and Superleague 2, Greek Cup and Basket League
- have been received 1.6 euros from sanctions based on new administrative arrangements
- Over 2,500 cameras have been installed on the stadiums
- The obligation was instituted to only have one fan club per group
- 109 matches were made in closed doors
- There were 10 modifications to the penal code
- Police made 604 arrests
“If someone with his abusive behavior leads his team to a match in camera, then there is a fine that can reach up to 50,000 euros to a natural person and a 5 -year exclusion from the stadiums,” said Yiannis Broutsis, adding that “this law has been applied more than 10 times”
- Especially for the e -ticket measure, Dimitris Papastergiou announced that:
- We have 1.5 million certified tickets – here we count once the lasting tickets
- We have 235,000 identification for minors
- 17,000 answers were given to questions about the process

- Concerning ELAS’s controls and interventions, Michalis Chrysochoidis noted that the keys to success were 3:

- – The second key is the DEAV which consistently, fair behavior managed to meet each week and impose the penalties provided by law
- – The third was the operational planning based on the new criminal treatment, on the cameras operating under the supervision of ELAS
All this time, police operations have been carried out around the stadiums that have shown that there are criminal groups that have nothing to do with sports but these are groups of beams, blackmailers and assassins
He recalled the operation on Alexandra Avenue with the arrest of about 70 PAO fans, 15 of whom are in custody and 50 faced 5 felonies but the recent arrest of AEK fans who were involved in drug trafficking, “a very strong criminal group”.
At the same time, 10 new initiatives were announced to strengthen the existing framework including automated ratification for projecting on the stadiums, the updating of the DEAB Rules of Procedure and the Observers, the Digital Observer, Collaboration with UEFA and FIFA
