A young woman holds her head in despair. A young man has leaned his head while walking on the ruins of a burned house. Are the images of the next day at Marseille. Of the next day of a large fire that leaves only disaster behind her.
The fire broke out on Tuesday morning (08.07.2025) in a suburb of Marseilles and quickly reached a forest outside the famous city of southern France. It started from a car that caught fire while moving on the A552 highway in Pennes-Mirabeau. Due to the winds and the unbearable heat, the fiery storm did not take long to spread.
Dense smoke covered the city and its surroundings, creating spooky images. Thousands of acres became ash, at least 63 homes were damaged and of these 10 have been destroyed, 400 people were informed to leave their homes and 110 people were slightly injured.
The smoke spread to 100 kilometers in the sea, according to satellite images.

Although the fire has now been extinguished, Fire Brigade forces have continued to operate in fear of rejuvenation.
People who had been removed and returned or those who were notified to be closed in their homes and not circulating (they are practical in France, no evacuations are made unless they are absolutely necessary and citizens are called upon to stay locked in their homes and not to circulate themselves).
Chaos and destruction from the passage of fire: burned cars, trees that have been converted into charcoal, lives and property damaged.

“Everything shows that we are heading for a high risk summer,” French Interior Minister Bruno Retagio warned last night.
