The award to the Greek Navy was awarded by Marios Iliopoulos in the context of the Greek Shipping Awards 2024. In his speech, the shipowner and owner of PAE AEK philosophized on the concepts of Safety and Truth.
Announcing and awarding the safety award to the representative of the Navy at the Greek Shipping Awards 2024, on Friday (06.12.2024), Marios Iliopoulos wished, among other things, that “our presence today will be a start and trigger for a better tomorrow of our new generation”.
Among the awards given was this one in the operation of the Navy of Greece and the European Union, “Eunavfor Aspides” in the Red Sea.

In his speech at the event sponsored by his shipping company, Sea Jets, Marios Iliopoulos philosophized on the concepts of Safety and Truth.

“With due respect to the great people – chapters of Greek shipping – who are present here today, generally present in the foreground, but also those who left a history in our shipping and are imaginably close to us, like our titan father.
We live in the most beautiful country on Earth…
We have everything… Our beautiful Aegean, the fantastic temperate climate where you can enjoy the weather for almost 9 months of the year. We have unique culture, history, culture, customs, traditions and unique marine DNA.
We have the Greek resourceful mind of Odysseus.
It is no coincidence that the Ancient Greeks chose this place… the Navel of the Earth.
So in this unique place with the unique world today I was invited to say a few words about Safety.
Safety is a great word with many angles.
Truth is a great word with many angles.
Do we really like Safety? and how do we define it? Types or substance?
Does truth define safety or safety the truth?
Word, Security.
The first letter, namely the negative A, is absence.
Fault is error, or failure.
Absence of failure … therefore equates with Safety.
Absence of failure presupposes selfless Love, presupposes persistence, patience, basic principles. Experience, Self-awareness. Perception, but above all background and union of forces.
Absence of Failure is not achieved by words or plastic procedures.
I avoid failure in all areas…across the spectrum.
In human contexts, failure is legitimate when it is the exception that confirms the rule of success.
Today are we out of clichés and out of set-ups?

Security, therefore, with negative A, means absence of error… with the next negative A of the word absence, means absence of substance.
Is absenteeism the problem? or the presence that the essence is absent?
I wish that our presence today will become a beginning and a trigger for the best tomorrow of our new generation.
We move forward with vision, goals, core principles, ideals and selfless Love.
The negative A reminds the new generation of the magical essence and composition of position and opposition.
