The position of the Greek Government regarding Egypt’s surprise decision to close the Monastery of St. Catherine Sinai the government spokesman expressed Paul Marinakis.
Mr. Marinakis specifically stated:
“Concerning the Monastery of St. Catherine of the Sinai Monastery, the Greek Prime Minister remains in the commitment he has publicly and privately received from the President of Egypt during the Supreme Cooperation Council of the two countries in Athens to maintain the worship of the Greek Orthodox. When the official and overall content of the court ruling is known and evaluated, there will be a formal position. From the Greek side we do not expect any differentiation to the agreed. “
