Marinakis by PASOK: “Not a single tax increased – we have reduced 72 and continue”

The government returned to the PASOK – Change Movement for the “taxation” of the New Democracy. THE Undersecretary of State for the Prime Minister and government spokesman, Pavlos Marinakisaccused PASOK of distorting reality, raising three key questions.

‘Tell us a tax that increased’

Mr. Marinakis made it clear that from 2019 until today, the Mitsotakis government has reduced or abolished 72 direct and indirect taxes And not the opposite. Indicatively he said:

  • Reductions in ENFIA and Income Tax

  • Abolition of solidarity levy For employees and business fees for freelancers

  • Reduction of insurance contributions by nearly 6%

  • Reduced VAT in transport and agricultural machinery

  • Abolition of parental benefits tax up to 800,000 euros

“Not a single tax rate has increased,” he said, with the exception of the 2026 increase in ENFIA for closed bank real estate and funds to get on the market.

‘Increasing revenue does not mean increased taxes’

In response to PASOK’s second peak, the government spokesman explained that it is absolutely feasible to taxes are reduced and at the same time increasing revenuesomething that – as he said – even knows “a freshman student of Economics”.

The increase in revenue, according to Mr Marinakis, is due to three factors:

  • Reduction of unemployment (500,000 more workers than 2019)

  • Fighting tax evasion with measurable results

  • High growth rates of the Greek economy

“Where will PASOK find the money?”

Mr. Marinakis also raised a third question, accusing PASOK for contradictions:

“How can it ask for additional support measures and at the same time denounce the increase in state revenue? Where will these measures be funded? From the non -existent “money” that SYRIZA didn’t even find? “

‘We continue with tax cuts and society support’

The government spokesman noted that the government remains committed to Reduction of unemployment, economic growth and tackling tax evasionin order to reinforce the disposable income of citizens.

“The only way to cover the distance with the rest of Europe is to constantly grow the pie and apply permanent support measures. This is what we will continue to do. “
