The Deputy Minister of Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister and government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis responded to a recent statements by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, on the occasion of the ten -year period since the crucial summer of 2015.
Mr Marinakis, in his official announcement, accused the former prime minister of attempting “rebranding” of himself and that he appears “as honor of history” while carrying – as he said – Heavy responsibility for the events that led the country to the brink of the cliff.
‘He won’t rewrite the story’
“Mr Tsipras has the right to do as much as rebranding he wants for himself, but the story will not rewrite it,” the government spokesman said, warning that Greek citizens do not forget the black days of capital controls, referendum and political instability.
‘Protagonist of volatility and closed banks’
Pavlos Marinakis recalled that the SYRIZA-ANEL government:
-
brought capital controls and closed banks
-
rolled out with the far -right
-
converted the country into Europe’s “black sheep”
-
highlighted ministers who have now been convicted of heavy offenses
“Ten years later, Mr Tsipras returns, not by self -criticism, but as an honor,” he said.
‘Greece is moving forward’
The government’s spokesman defended the actions of today’s governance, noting that:
-
Unemployment is at the lowest level of the last 17 years
-
The economy is growing at a double rate from European average
-
Borders are kept in a ‘rigorous but fair way’
-
Defense and diplomatic shielding is at the strongest point of the last decades
‘We won’t go back’
In closing, Mr. Marinakis stressed that the country still has open wounds, but will not allow to return to the darkest pages of modern history.
“We will not go back … politically rinsing the fateful protagonists of these days, with Mr Tsipras’ first among them,” he said categorically.
