Marcelo Gagliardo was moved to tears by the support of 80,000 River Plate fans over the death of his father

Just before the start of her match River Plate with Rosario Central, thousands of home fans stood -with their voices- next to coach them, Marcelo Gaiardo.

River Plate fans have been asked to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the father of manager and team legend Marcelo Gaiardo, Maximo, who passed away in the previous 24 hours.

Instead of a minute’s silence, there was an unrepeatable apotheosis from the friends of River Plate for Marcelo Gagliardo’s father, as a gesture of support (despite his mourning, he was normally on the team’s bench).

Around 80,000 River Plate fans erupted into a deafening applause – while also shouting a slogan – making Marcelo Gagliardo emotional and unable to hold back his tears.
