This announcement comes at a time when other G7 states, including France, are preparing to take the same diplomatic step in the coming days, reinforcing international dynamics in favor of the two states.
Tension by Israeli minister
In Jerusalem, the reaction was also immediate: Israeli Minister of National Security Ithamar Ben Gvir condemned recognition by the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia and called, in retaliation, to the “immediate attachment” of the West Bank.
“This recognition imposes a clear and immediate answer: the annexation of territories,” Ben Gvir said in a statement, highlighting the growing gap between the initiative of many Western countries and the hard line adopting part of the Israeli government.
