Macron again appointed Lekorni Prime Minister of France – “the political crisis must end, I will do whatever I can”

THE Emmanuel Macron He again appointed outgoing Prime Minister Sebastian Lekorni in a sudden move that put an end to the days France.

According to the Champs -Elysee announcement, Emmanuel Macron assigned to Sebastian Lekorni tonight (10.10.2025) to form a new government. The re -establishment of Lecorne comes just four days after his resignation from the post, causing a week of intense drama and political turmoil in France.

Macron made the announcement late Friday night, a few hours after meeting with all the leaders of the main parties in the Champs -Elysees, with the exception of the leaders of the far -right and the far -left.

The president “gives a white permission to the prime minister,” said Emmanuel Macron’s associate.

Lekorni’s return is a surprise, as he had only stated two days ago that he did not “seek the position” and that “his mission is over”.

Sebastian Lekorni, who had already been appointed for the first time in early September, resigned unexpectedly last Monday after deciding that the conditions were no longer suitable for his role at the Prime Minister’s Palace, Matinion.

It is uncertain whether he will form a government, but the new prime minister will have to start his work immediately. In fact, it has a deadline until next Monday to submit the next year’s budget to Parliament.

The Lekorni Post

Shortly after 23:00 (Greek time) and after Macron’s official announcement, Lecorne rushed to his account on X and made a long post, saying he was again accepting his duties.

“I accept – by duty – the mission assigned to me by the President of the Republic to do everything possible to draw up the France’s budget by the end of the year and to respond to the problems of the daily lives of our compatriots.

This political crisis that enrages the French and this instability that harm the image of France and its interests must be ended.

As I said, this will only be possible under certain conditions if the necessary conclusions have been drawn from the last few weeks:

  • All the issues discussed during the consultations of recent days will be discussed in Parliament: Members and Senators will be able to take responsibility and discussions will have to be completed.
  • The restoration of our public finances remains a priority for our future and our sovereignty: no one will be able to avoid this need.
  • All ambitions are legal and useful, but those who join the government should be committed to disconnecting the presidential ambitions for 2027.
  • The new government team should embody the renewal and diversity of abilities.

I will do everything I can to achieve this mission. “

It is recalled that in a television speech on Thursday, Lekorni stressed that the goal of France’s budget, which will be presented on Monday, is to maintain the state deficit between 4.7% and 5% in 2026, compared to 5.4% this year.

This is a lesser effort than the one proposed in mid -summer by then Prime Minister Francois Bairou, who may be disputed by the amendments proposed by opposition parties to the French parliament.

The opposition reacts

The first reactions of the opposition parties against President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to ask Prime Minister Sebastian Lecorni to remain in his place are more or less negative.

Marin Le Pen’s national alarm and the disobedient France of Jean -Lyk Melanson made it clear that they are moving towards submitting a motion of censure.

On the part of the Socialists, the existence of any agreement with the new prime minister was clearly denied that their party would expect the first examples of the new government’s writing about the major problems of society, while the ecologists described its “incredible” decision.
