Seven days after theft – mammoth in his museum Louvreauthorities arrested 2 suspects. One of them was caught on Saturday (25.10.2025) while trying to board a flight to Algeria, while the second in Saint-Denis.
As reported by Le Parisien, the 2 suspects for the theft are estimated to be approx 30 years old from Saint Denis of Paris. The 2 of them allegedly belong to the 4-member organization that targeted the Louvre museum, stealing the priceless French crown jewels.
The same media reports that those arrested are known to the authorities for burglaries and thefts.
The whereabouts of the particular jewels remains unknown. Experts estimate that the perpetrators have already “melted” them. It is considered unlikely that they will be found and returned to the Louvre museum.
This development comes after the announcement by the police that they have found evidence that proves that a member of the museum’s security team was in contact with the perpetrators.

This scenario was considered from the first moment when the 4 perpetrators broke into the famous museum and grabbed the jewels, the value of which is estimated to be more than 80 million euros.
More than 100 investigators have been “over” the case of the theft of the Louvre that exposed both the security of the museum and the French authorities.
The 4 men were able to steal the most expensive jewels from under the noses of all of Paris. Wearing fluorescent vests and pretending to be workers, they set up a hoist outside the museum, climbed to the first floor, broke the glass and began to grab the jewels in front of dozens of visitors. Within 7 minutes they broke in, stole and disappeared on their scooters.

France’s justice minister admitted that security protocols had “failed”.
According to a preliminary report, one of the three rooms in the specific wing of the museum did not have security cameras, making the perpetrators’ task even easier.
