The updated version of the Chevrolet Volt will have a larger battery, which will offer increased autonomy when the car is driven exclusively by the electric motor. The capacity of the new battery is 16.5 kWh (greater by 0.5 kWh) and allows the car to drive up to 61 km with zero emissions (an increase of 5 km). The total range of the Volt will reach 612 km.
The larger battery does not only offer advantages, however. According to the people at Chevrolet, the trade-off for the longer range is slightly longer charging times (10.5 hours on a simple outlet and 4.25 hours on a fast charge).
