Lina Mendoni: The Restored Archaeological Museum of Lemnos was inaugurated

The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, launched the fully renovated Archaeological Museum of Lemnos, a project funded by 3m euros. The museum, affected by the 2014 earthquake, is housed in a neoclassical building in Myrina and presents the history of the island from prehistory to Byzantium.

In her speech, the minister emphasized the government’s strategic will to invest in culture, characterizing him not only education but also a development tool. He pointed out that the Museum of Lemnos is the 28th delivered since July 2019, and referred to the overall program of cultural works on the island of 17.5m euros.

As part of her visit, Lina Mendoni conducted autopsies in three more important projects:

  • Kontia Municipal Gallery: Upgrade project with a budget of 300,000 euros.
  • Church of St. Demetrios Kontopouli: Preparation for the inclusion of the rehabilitation project of EUR 1.5 million.
  • Jacket: Completion of the second phase of the project, a budget of EUR 2.2 million, which includes the formation of the trail to the Filoktitis Cave.

The visit ended with the attendance of the show “Fractions: Euripides” at the ancient theater of volcanoes.
