As the summer holiday is approaching, the time is approaching to pay the license to workers of the private sector.
Employees who are paid for the minimum wage will see an increased leave allowance this year. The increase results from the new remuneration in force in the spring of 2025, raising the amount that the beneficiaries will see in their bank accounts.
It is recalled that as of April 1, 2025, the minimum wage stood at € 880 gross, compared to 830 euros previously in force. Thus the leave allowance is estimated at € 589.41 (from 556.05 euros). This increase also has an impact on the amount of the leave allowance received by employees.
The employer is obliged to grant the permission of the employee’s request.
Under applicable legislation:
- The employee shall be entitled to an annual earning of earnings, which he receives in consultation with the employer.
- The employer is obliged to grant the license at the latest within two months of the date of submission of the employee’s application.
- The summer license must be given between May 1 and September 30, at least 50% of a business staff. The corresponding summer leave allowance is preferable either as a whole at the start of the license, or in installments along with the leave earnings.
The leave allowance equals all the regular usual remuneration received by the license employee. It may not exceed 15 days for those who are paid monthly salary and 13 days for those who are paid wage or percentage or otherwise.
Those who receive a regular unemployment benefit from the DBA are not entitled to leave allowance. The allowance concerns exclusively employees who are in an active employment relationship.
How is it calculated
Employees have the ability to calculate the amount they are entitled Special application of KEPEA through its online platform.
The summer license and allowance are calculated on the basis of the calendar year. From the first year of work, the employee receives the corresponding license, either working five days or six days.
In particular, the annual license is based on the calendar year. From the first year of employment, the employee is entitled to an annual permit ratio, regardless of whether he works five days or six days, without the need for minimum service to the same employer.
