The collisions Between rival armed groups that broke out last night, Monday (12.5.25), and continued during the night in its capital LibyaTripoli cost the lives of at least six people, as the emergency medicine center announced today, with the Tripoli government had announced that it had regained control of the situation.
“Six corpses were found at the points of conflict around Abu Salim”, its district Libya capital that was shocked by armed conflictas announced by the Emergency Medicine and Support Center.
Conflicts with machine guns and rocket launchers broke out yesterday at around 9pm (local time, 22:00 Greek time) in the capital, during which the Abdelgani “Generation” El KicklI, head of the Stability Support Authority, an armed group with an influence based on Abu Salim district in the southern area of Tripoli.
After a few hours of fierce battles, “the Ministry of Defense states that the military operation was successfully carried out and instructions were given to complete a operation (…) allowing continuous security and stability to ensure,” he said in a statement issued in the middle of the night.
“I welcome the Ministries of Interior and Defense, as well as all members of the Army and Police who settled security and confirmed the power of the state in the capital,” Tripoli’s head Abdelhamid Dbaiba added in a statement.
“What has been achieved today shows that regular institutions are capable of protecting their homeland and maintaining the dignity of citizens,” he wrote. It is “a decisive stage in the elimination of naughty groups and establish the Authority that there is no position in Libya except for state institutions, and there is no other principle than that of the law,” Dbeyba wrote.
Libya finds it difficult to turn the page of war and chaos that followed the 2011 uprising and the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime. It continues to be distributed in two, with a government in Tripoli, recognized by the UN, and a competitive in the eastern part of the country, close to the family of General Khalifa Haphtar.
