Leon was excluded from the World Cup of Associations due to a common ownership status with Patsuka

OR FIFA decided to block Mexican Leon from World Cupas he ruled that he had a common ownership with Patsuka, who is also involved in the event.

Mexico’s team, Leo-in the Hames Rodriguez, will not participate in the World Cup 2025, as it was found that another Mexican team of the event, Patsouka, did not meet the criteria for the ownership of many clubs, FIFA announced today (21/3).

Both Leon and Patsuka belong to Grupo Pachuca.

“The FIFA Appeals Committee approved a decision on Patsuka and Leon,” FIFA said in a statement.
“Following the disciplinary procedure against Patsuka and Leon, the Chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has chosen to refer the case directly to the FIFA Appeals Committee, in accordance with Article 56 (3) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.”

And he added: “After evaluating all the evidence in the file, the Chairman of the FIFA Appeals Committee decided that both Patsuka and Leon do not meet the criteria for ownership of many clubs set out in Article 10, section 1 of the Fifa World Cup regulations”.

“FIFA has decided that Leon will be removed from the event and the club, which will be accepted as its replacement, will be announced in due time,” the FIFA Appeals Committee said in a statement.

Patsuka’s position in the event was not affected.

Leon said she disagrees with the FIFA decision and would appeal to the CAS if they are finally denied a place in the World Cup.
“In recent months we have presented all the information and documents that confirm that Leon has managed herself autonomously in all the financial, administrative and athletic aspects,” he said.

Leon was drawn in the 4th group along with Chelsea, Flamengo and Esperans.

The top tournament will start in Miami on June 14, 2025 and be completed with the coronation of the New York/ New Jersey champions on July 13, 2025.
