French President Emmanuel Macron asked Lekorni to make another effort – with a deadline tomorrow night (8.10.2025) – to bring the opposing parties together to give “stability” to the country, as the 2026 budget is urgent to limit the growing debt.
Lekorni met with politicians from his central allies this morning (7.10.2025), before talks with opposition parties in the afternoon and tomorrow morning.
“Everyone agreed on these two urgent priorities with a common will to find a quick solution,” Lecorni’s office said in a statement after the first meetings. “There was an exchange of views on the fiscal state of emergency and the parameters of a possible compromise with opposition parties.”
