“With a ticket on a public beach,” says the complaint made by residents and tourist to Lefkada For a land owner in the area of Ayiofili.
Specifically, visitors and locals complain that they are forced to pay 10 euros to dive into the sea on a beach in Lefkada.
As they say, the owner of a plot is asking travelers to pass through his space and reach Ayiofili beach. In case of refusal, he urges them to leave or take a boat.
As described, on the road to the beach there was a gate with two people who required the amount, only in cash.
The reason for collecting the amount was that it was a parking charge, as there is a large parking lot, while wire has been placed around to prevent free access.
It is noted that the privately owned area is in front of the beach.
The mayor of Lefkada, Xenophon Verginis, said the municipality has no involvement with the incident and has not granted any exploitation permit. He even recalled that in 2023 a fine of more than 5,000 euros was imposed on a private individual who took advantage of the site as a private parking lot.
