The role of Ioannides
Ioannidis was the head of the CIA “political action and psychological war” in Miami since December 1962. In this context, DRE, the Cuban student anti-Castro organization, funded and secretly addressed DRE, the Cuban Student Anti-Castro Organization.
This group had come into direct contact with Oswald in New Orleans, when he was distributing leaflets in favor of the “Fair Play for Cuba Committee”, a pro-confession. According to an article in the Washington Post, Oswald had even proposed to help them – possibly as a double agent.
Later, in 1978, Ioannides was appointed as a CIA link with the Congress Inquiry Committee for Kennedy’s murder – without the committee being aware of his previous role in the events he was investigating.
According to Dan Hardway, former Commission’s legal adviser and a key source of the Washington Post, Ioannides changed the processes of access to the CIA files, filtering documents and delaying their transmission to the Commission. Some critical reports, such as Ioannidis’ monthly reports from his period in Miami, remain missing.
