THE Lebanon seems to be trying to get into a new era with the disarmament of the organization Hezbollahas announced today Friday 05.09.2025.
The Lebanese Council of Ministers met today and “welcomed” the Army’s plan to disarm the disarmament of Hezbollah, which was announced soon.
The meeting lasted three hours and during this time the disarmament plan was presented by Army Governor Rodolf Haikal. All five Shiite ministers came out of the room in protest when Haikal entered.
The government did not release the timetable and decided to “secret” the details of the plan.
Government spokesman Paul Morkos said the plan would be implemented, but warning that the army has limited potential, both in material and human resources. For this reason, “additional time and effort” may be required.
He added that the government “welcomes” the plan but did not clarify whether the Council of Ministers had officially approved it.
Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar, who is in Hezbollah, told local media before the meeting that any decision made by the Shiite ministers would be invalid and will be considered a violation of the system of sharing power in Lebanon.
After the war with Israel, the US, Saudi Arabia and the organization’s main opponents in Lebanon, the Christians and the Sunnis insisted that Hezbollah filed their weapons. The Shiite organization argues that it would even be a “serious mistake” to even discuss its disarmament as Israel continues its air strikes in Lebanon and holds territories on the southern border. Four people were killed in such blows on Wednesday.
