Donald Trump’s statements at the end of October (30.10.2025) that the USA will again start the nuclear tests because the American president “had no other choice” caused particular concern and concern in China and Russia.
Nuclear testing is a “sensitive issue” that the rival nuclear powers, i.e. the US vis-à-vis China and Russia, have so far approached with great caution.
However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the fact that Moscow succeeded in developing advanced military equipment and missile systems with the possibility of incorporating nuclear warheads “rang” an alarm at the White House.
The Trump’s statements resulted in Vladimir Putin responding, ordering the restart of Russian nuclear testing and so a “war of statements” broke out in which Moscow and Washington are demanding clarification of their intentions.
In this context, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today (11.11.2025) that Moscow will conduct nuclear tests if another nuclear power repeats them.

The Russian Foreign Minister also emphasized that Moscow expresses concern over the US statements which imply that nuclear tests could be used for geopolitical reasons.
