Launched on the current by large businesses and DEYA

In the categories of large commercial consumers and municipal water supply – sewerage (DEYA), the largest proportion of the rise to the arrears are located debts noted in 2024 in current.

As the newsit.gr wrote (16.5.2025) yesterday (16.5.2025) Debts in total increased by 1 billion euros last yearreaching 3.4 billion euros and causing concern in the electricity market.

According to the data published by RAAE, within one year the debts in the average voltagewhich includes large companies and small industries, raised from € 115 million to € 514 million.

Particular rise is also observed in the category Other consumers of low voltagewhich reached just EUR 1 million in 2023 to EUR 440 million in 2024. This category includes most of the DEYA debts.

Cumulatively, the above two categories of consumption correspond to about 750 million euros of € rium increase.

However, it is worth noting that last December the RIS passed legislation to subsidize 200 million euros in debt. The intervention relates to debts that accumulated by October 31, 2024. by extension, almost half of the debts of this category are essentially virtual. To add, however, DEYA’s debt is considered recoverable to suppliers, as they are public enterprises.

Even so, the total number of arrears remains too high. It seems, especially in the case of the average trend, the suppliers’ commercial policy has been precarious and turns “boomerang” for themselves, allowing the accumulation of large debts they are now called upon to manage.

In this case, the same is not the case with DEYA, as we are talking about debts from which suppliers predict that they will retrieve only part of them.

To the above we should add that the category of Tension It is a part of the market with highly competitive features. Suppliers’ shares are much more ‘spread out’ than Low voltage and less concentration is observed.
