The fatal accident
The 20 -year -old unskilled sailor lost his life when he was trapped in the watertight sliding door leading to the engine room in Bluy Star Chios.
The young machine cleaner had just caught shift and when shortly before 8am, he tried to pass through the heavy, water -watering door of the garage to go to the engine room he was trapped and co -ordinated.
The unanswered questions
Many questions remain unanswered from that day.
Was there adequate 20 -year -old training to handle machinery?
“There is a time when every employee who needs to become familiar with the machines with the outputs of the watering doors,” said Stefenson President Angelos Galanopoulos.
Was the sound and bright warnings work?
“Anything that moves and passes a lamp lights up and becomes a strong noise as a sound to declare that there is dangerous – the door closes,” adds Valis.
Was all security protocols adhered to?
“There are serious indications of how young colleagues are familiar with machinery,” Mr Galanopoulos added.
During travel for security reasons the locking system is controlled by the bridge.
