The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was diagnosed positive for the coronavirus and therefore the cabinet meeting scheduled for today, Tuesday at 12:00, will be held via video conference.
After celebrating the anniversary on October 28, the government was set to return to normal today as several important issues are on the agenda of the cabinet. One of the key issues concerns OPEKEPE and, according to information, it is a necessary step for the Commission to approve the disbursement of funds that will allow payments to the beneficiaries in the second fortnight of November.
During the meeting, the bill for the affiliation of OPEKEPE to AADE is expected to be presented, with rapporteurs the Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Minister of Rural Development Kostas Tsiaras. The bill aims for the Agency to operate in a new, more efficient framework from the beginning of the new year. It is recalled that by November 4, Greece must submit to the Commission the new action plan for the payments and the system of crossings in the IACS declarations.
At the same time, a “painful” Joint Ministerial Decision is expected to be issued in the coming days, which will determine the new definition of pastures and the criteria for granting subsidies. According to information, these arrangements may cause reactions, as they are intended to restrict the number of statements.
Today’s cabinet will also present a new government initiative by Kostis Hatzidakis and the Minister of State Akis Skertsos, with the aim of a more citizen- and business-friendly state.
This initiative includes cross-sectoral legislative interventions to improve the relationship between citizens and the State, the fight against bureaucracy and the simplification of administrative procedures through the “MITOS” National Procedure Register, where 4,050 procedures have already been registered.
According to the same sources, digital tools and artificial intelligence will be used to process and simplify 400 “MITOS” procedures in the first phase, based on criteria such as frequency of use and financial burden.
