Restarted through a parliamentary group and not ultimately through the reshuffle that did not deliver the best possible results for his government, the Kyriakos Mitsotakiswho at the meeting of the institution emitted two important messages, regarding the time of the national elections and the person who will lead the New Democracy to the polls.
Concerning the national showdown, Mr Mitsotakis was clear, reiterating that the ballots would be set up in 2027, on the basis of constitutional deadlines. However, the second message about his stay in the leadership of the New Democracy could be carefully considered unclear as his reference that “the elections will be held at the end of the four years with me at the forefront” does not necessarily mean, ND officials say, that the party will lead the way to the ballot. On the other hand, however, it does not exclude the possibility of being the one who, as president of the ND, will undertake to lead the party to a new electoral battle. The basic interpretation of his interlocutors to the prime ministerial ones is that he will also claim a third term at the Maximus Palace, but some MPs believe that this particular wording “with me at the forefront” cannot lead with absolutely to the conclusion of staying in the leadership.
However, Kyriakos Mitsotakis took advantage of yesterday’s meeting of the blue parliamentary group and even at a critical time for the ruling party, to send multiple messages both inside and outside the New Democracy. Most importantly, despite the deterioration he himself admitted – after all, he had no choice – that his government is displaying that the ND’s electoral dominance in two years from now “is absolutely visible and feasible if it is based on our unity”.
The prime minister wanted to present the government -down as a result of the six -year rule of New Democracy, so he avoided talking about failures, omissions and tragic errors that are burdened by ND’s stay in power with a focus and tragedy. Because the ruling party’s significant losses were first reflected in a ballot box in the June 2024 European elections and later politically in the municipal elections, but by polls, the government continued to lose power when social protest was culminated in the crime. For this reason, and yesterday, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that even with the rates of ND reduced, he still has a lead of 12 percentage points (Marc) from the second party and in this case freedom of freedom, which allows him to believe that if all the executives will be held. which is also the threshold for the electoral bonus seats in the first party.
Obviously even now the Maximus Mansion cannot know if the cruise rates will be consolidated, increased or returned to one -digit numbers. After all, based on the prime ministerial assurances of elections at the end of the four years, the political landscape in two years from now can be completely different. However, for good and for bad, Mr Mitsotakis attempted to deconstruct Mrs. Konstantopoulou in the pre -agenda debate in Parliament, accusing her, among other things, the lack of a government program and an undeclared plan to return to the drachma.
In this context, the prime minister made an impressive opening to the New Democracy Parliamentary Group, speaking as the elections were to take place tomorrow, stating “I am lucky enough to be headed by an excellent parliamentary group. See only the work we quote, your placements in the plenary! He even praised the blue MPs for the fact that the majority had handled two proposals of mistrust. But it was not limited only to praise to the government’s parliamentary group.
He even welcomed the question of 11 Members on issues related to border markets, even calling for legislative proposals on how an existing issue can be addressed. It should be noted that until recently any move by MPs of the ND and the submission of proposals were considered “guerrilla” or inwardly in question. In his opening to MPs, Kyriakos Mitsotakis called on ministers to inform them in detail, describing local MPs to be informed by the media about the visits of members of the government to their regions.
