THE Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife Mareva Grabowski welcomed to Maximus Palace her national pole Women, who a few days ago won the gold medal in World Championship in Singapore.

The prime minister had the opportunity to discuss with the international athletes and their coaches the course and prospects of the Greek pole, while considering ways to support the sport and the national teams.
Among other things, it was discussed to secure a swimming pool, a gym and a hostel at the same sports center, so that the national polo teams are prepared under the best possible conditions for large events, without the need for frequent movements in different facilities. In this context, the possible exploitation of the upgraded OAKA was examined, where athletes are constructed.
They also exchanged views on the greater promotion of the female pole, and more widely in women’s championship, which is now a global issue in many sports.
It was proposed, as the first step, to ensure the equal television coverage of the women’s championship with the men’s counterpart, by broadcasting at least one race per week by ERT frequencies. Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged that all the necessary steps would be taken immediately to make the equal treatment of the two championships on state television.
Ways have also been discussed to attract new athletes and poll reinforcement locally.
The world championships have given the Prime Minister a blue cap symbolic of the number 15, as 15 are the members of the National Team’s mission, and a ball with their signatures.
