The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis He visits Skiathos, where he presided a meeting at the Town Hall in the morning with representatives of Local Government and the Business Community, with the needs of the local community, the project implementation program on the island and its strengthening National Marine Park of Alonissos Northern Sporades.
“Mr. Mayor, Minister, Lady and gentlemen in Parliament, I would like to thank you, first of all, for the very warm welcome. I was committed to coming to Skiathos for some time now and I am glad to be with you today.
We had a very substantial information discussion on the important initiatives taken by the local authority, as well as the local agencies.

To congratulate you, first of all, because you are an example of a municipality, who has managed to absorb resources from different financial tools and turn them into important infrastructure projects for the island.
To congratulate the agencies, the representatives of the business world of Skiathos, because Skiathos is always at the forefront, at the forefront of our tourist product.
We had the opportunity to discuss a series of issues that are still left to deal with. I hold on to the issue of the permanent ferry connection with a high -speed boat and in the winter, an issue that I think we can deal with, the integration of a series of important infrastructure projects, financial tools that seem to be available at the moment.
From our discussion, I keep the marina work of particularly important, which I hope will be auctioned by the Hypertension as soon as possible, and I think it will be a flagship project for the overall development of Skiathos and the creation of an infrastructure for a new kind of tourism, which is obviously much more environmentally friendly.

And since we are talking about maritime tourism, to focus especially on the importance I attribute to further promotion, but also reinforce the Northern Sporades marine park, which I will have the opportunity to visit this afternoon.
It is an iconic maritime protection project, which was, I would say, the source of inspiration for the creation of the two new maritime parks in the Ionian and South Aegean, which you have recently been announced.
I want to work together with the local community, the institutions of the place, so that we can turn this maritime park into a model, not just marine protection but also sustainable development, utilizing all the means that technology gives us so that the sea can be able to make this marine park and the marine park. Parks, which we hope will be launched next year.
So again thank you for the very warm welcome. To close by saying that it is my obligation to be in every corner of Greece, in the context of my obligations, and I will continue to tour all over Greece until the next national elections.
And I believe very much in this interaction between the local communities and the central government, at the bottom of us, we are all judged by both local communities and local authorities and the government, for our effectiveness and our ability to implement the commitments we have made to our citizens.
This is true for local authorities, as well as the central government, so we will continue to make this effort and close, I would say, our ears in polarization and toxicity voices, which, especially in small local communities, should not appear.
Keep as far as possible the local public dialogue from the tensions of the central political scene if I can give you an encouragement. Our job is also to close our ears to toxicity, put our heads down, work hard and solve problems that may look small for us, but for you they are extremely important.
So I hope that this tourist season will close well, and I think we have a clear timetable for how we want to move from now on, “said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the end of the meeting, which was also attended by Interior Minister Thodoris.
For his part, Mayor Skiathos Thodoris Tzoumas said: “We are very pleased to welcome the Prime Minister to the Municipality of Skiathos. We have already informed him of the large project program that has started in 2019 that has been completed or completed and concerned with a budget of about 25 million euros, in infrastructure projects in need of the place, projects that bring Skiathos to a new era.
We also informed about the basic problems we are facing right now, namely the ferry connection, but also some infrastructure projects that need to be launched, such as the Master Plan, drainage projects.
Repeat that joy and honor are great and thank once again for everything that has happened from 2019 to Skiathos. President, we are grateful to you. “
