The Vice -President of the Government, Kostis Hatzidakisinterviewed Nikos Evangelatos, referring to the new financial measures, the priorities of the government and the current political situation

Mr Hatzidakis revealed that the measures announced by the prime minister at the TIF were not surprising, as he was part of a wider planning in which he himself participated. He stressed that measures are a move we “owed” to society, with an emphasis on middle classincluding employees, retirees and freelancers. He also made a special reference to interventions for villages and islands, stressing that the government’s package is more complete than opposition proposals, which were limited to the 13th and 14th salary.

Asked about the future priorities of the government, the Vice -President stressed that, if stability was maintained, Greece will have significant growth rates. He said that next year, with the proper operation of the tax mechanism, the government would be able to present a new package of measures, prioritizing social groups facing greater difficulties.

Commenting on Alexis Tsipras’ intervention, Mr. Hatzidakis estimated that he did not cause a particular sense and that any former prime minister’s move would mainly affect the redistribution of forces within the left. Finally, he described the opposition’s narrative as a “soap bubble”, stressing that seriousness and credibility would be judged by the results in the field.
