Kimberly Gilfil is in the final line for ratifying her appointment as US ambassador to Greece, as she today went through the established listening to the US Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
Kimberly, in her presentation, praised the role of the Greek Greek community in the US and the development of the country’s economy, talked about her respect for Orthodoxy and religious freedoms while committing to work to further strengthen the relationships between the two peoples.

Referring to her personal journey, she talked about her parents – her Puerto Rican mother, a special education teacher, and her father, immigrant from Ireland – and pointed out her obligation to continue the values she had transmitted to her.
She described her candidacy for the embassy in Greece as a “unique honor”, stressing that Greece, the birthplace of democracy, embodies the fundamental principles of freedom, self -ruling and the rule of law. “These values have echoed through the centuries and inspired the founders of the American nation,” he said.
Gilfail praised Greece’s geopolitical significance, describing it as a “pillar of stability” in a complex area, and emphasized its crucial role in the NATO alliance. He pointed out that Greece is one of the top countries in defense spending within the Alliance, with a provision of 3% of GDP in 2025 and a 5% target, according to Hague commitments.
He referred to the major US defense equipment markets-F-35 fighters, Apache and Blackhawk helicopters, as well as modern ships-and pointed out the importance of the common constellation frigates, which enhances US-Greece industrial cooperation. “If I am confirmed, it will be my priority to further accelerate the modernization of Greek defense,” he said.
Energy and investment
Gilfail has also highlighted the progress of energy cooperation, citing the LNG terminal in Revithousa and the FSRU floating unit in Alexandroupolis, which facilitate US gas exports to Europe. He noted that the US already covers 20% of the gas market in Greece, compared to just 2% five years ago.
“If you validate my appointment, I will work with Greece to commercial investment in basic gas pipelines, such as the so -called” vertical corridor “that connects Greece with Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Central Europe,” he said.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of Greece’s electrical interconnections with Cyprus, Israel and Egypt, which boost regional energy security.
Gilfil, a well -known journalist and lawyer, as well as a former companion of Donald Trump Jr., was one of the five candidates who went through the hearing process before the committee regarding other countries. The meeting began with introductory statements by the senators who suggest the approval of each candidacy before the candidates pass on the presentation and the questions.
