Riotful procedure
On July 9, Kimberly Gilfail had been hearing before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, receiving 13 votes in favor and 9 against. It had then highlighted the role of Greek homogeneity in the US, the importance of religious freedoms and its commitment to further enhance bilateral relations.
The final ratification took place on Thursday in a group vote involving 48 Donald Trump candidates. The Republican majority resorted to the so -called “nuclear choice” to accelerate the process, modifying the rules to avoid prolonged delays.
“If the Senate had continued at this pace, there would still be hundreds of vacancies until the end of President Trump’s term in 2029,” the Republican majority leader, John Thun, justified the move.
