Kikilia: Continuous checks on shipping in ventilation

New circular

By decision of the Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, B. Kikilia and at the behest of the Chief of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard, Vice Admiral LS T. Kontiza, police checks are intensified in professional tourist vessels (ships operating daily recreational routes) as part of the increased passenger traffic in view of the completion of the summer season.

In particular, in a relevant circular sent, all the port authorities of the country are required to carry out additional checks on professional tourist cars in all ports of the country. Checks relate to their movement and circulation, as well as compliance with security regulations. Particular emphasis is placed on compliance with the terms of activity in this category of ships, control of the occupation situations, staffing with the intended crew composition, and on the obligation to comply with the planned insurance, shipping documents and certificates.

At the same time, in a circular of the General Secretariat of Maritime and Ports of the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy, the ferry companies are caught by attention to the uninterrupted observance of all the necessary security measures and the rules of maritime transport.

Mr Kikilias emphasized that “all preventive actions of police action are aimed at protecting human life. Professionals of shipping and shipping are our partners in joint efforts for quality services and uninterrupted service of the passenger public. Security is the starting point and foundation of this effort. For this reason, we are constantly increasing controls on all ships. The aim is to constantly increase the level of security for citizens. Thus, our fellow citizens consolidate the sense of confidence and reflects the image of an organized state, governed by security and order rules. “
