Kerameos and Kefalogiannis meeting with the Bureau of the WTOET

Meeting with the Bureau of the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Food-Tourism Workers (WTO) was held by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, VictoryThe Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogiannis.

During the meeting, the need to protect the rights of workers was discussed extensively through the faithful implementation of the digital work card and the intensive controls carried out by the Labor Inspectorate.

At the same time, there was a common finding that the application of the digital work card has already produced spectacular results in tourism, as, in its first month, in March 2025, the overtime reported increased by 637%.

Regarding vacancies in tourism and focus, everyone admitted that it was a challenge to find human resources, especially in view of the tourist season, and agreed that the depletion of domestic valuable human resources is initially to exhaust.

Indeed, as Mrs Kerameos explained, important tools in this effort are the Jobmatch application, as well as the “Career Days” institution of the Public Employment Service (DBA). As stated in a related announcement, these are two tools, which bring together workers and employers, enabling them to reap mutual benefit.

Finally, the meeting was employed by the already rebuilt regular unemployment allowance, the study of data on the seasonal unemployment benefit, and the further strengthening of collective agreements.

Mrs Kerameos, she said: “At the Ministry of Labor and Social Security we are always open to dialogue, seeking to constantly improve working conditions, but also to defend workers’ rights and ensuring healthy competition for businesses. The proper functioning of the labor market and of course its continued strengthening is our crucial concern. In this regard, together with the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogiannis, whom I would like to thank for our excellent cooperation, we have a meeting with the WTOET Bureau today. We listened to the positions of the Federation, the issues that exist in these two crucifixes about the economy of our country and discussed possible solutions. We are always on the side of the workers and we are committed to continuing to work to their advantage. “

For her part, Mrs Kefalogiannis noted: “The protection and strengthening of human resources is one of the pillars of our strategy for the quality of Greek tourism. Our goal and pursuit are guaranteed rights and optimum working conditions for tourism workers. We take into account the demands and thoughts expressed by the WTOET and we believe that with the excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and the Minister of Labor, Mr. Niki Kerameos, the position and rights of workers will be safeguarded and further strengthened for the benefit of the modern product.

The POEET was represented by the President of the Federation, George Hodzoglou, the Vice President, Nikolaos Kokolakis and the Secretary General, Fotios Skaltsas.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice President of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT), Konstantinos Zikos.
