Mr Katrinis noted that society requires truth and responsibility. “We leave this approach to the crisis of the Greek people,” he said. In particular, he emphasized that the government had processed fast-track, without the establishment of a pre-trial committee and without the possibility of calling for substantial witnesses. As he made clear, PASOK does not legitimize this practice.
He recalled that the New Democracy had rejected PASOK’s proposal to examine the European Prosecutor’s case for Convention 717, arguing that it is not related to tragedy and has a financial object. Today, however, he has chosen to refer K. Karamanlis for a misdemeanor, for financial loss, “to throw him into the soft”.
Responding to government set -offs with the tragedy in Eye, PASOK’s MP pointed out that there were no warnings on the possibility of a fire due to the construction or status of the area. On the contrary, there were documents, notes and reports by drivers and OSE and TRAINOSE executives who warned of a serious risk of a long -term accident.
The former minister, he said, was fully aware of the situation and showed criminal inactivity, As it did not sign a single decision to reduce train speed – a measure that could limit the consequences of a collision. For this reason, he stressed, PASOK called for Mr Karamanlis’ referral to a felony, in accordance with Article 299 of the Criminal Code.
Finally, commenting on the incident with a Member of Parliament in plenary, he spoke of mourning parliamentaryism, denouncing the tolerance of the bureau. “At some point we have to respect the institutional role and the space we are in. It’s unacceptable, it’s worrying, it’s sad, “he said.
