In his first speech from the step of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, the President of the Democracy Movement, Stefanos Kasselakispresented a comprehensive and radical plan of governance entitled “New Model for the National Renaissance”, calling citizens in complete rupture with the political system of the opposition.
By criticizing the government and personally to the prime minister, whom he described as a “child of the tube”, Mr Kasselakis spoke of a “lesser Greece”, where citizens are forced to compromise with less purchasing power, less opportunities and less dignity. “The system has failed and the system itself admits it,” he said, stressing that simple management of existing pathogens is not enough and that a radical change is required immediately.
The plan of ‘5 freedoms’
Mr Kasselakis has built his plan around five fundamental “freedoms” which, he said, are a prerequisite for the country’s regeneration.

1. Freedom from fear:
- Health: He committed to a “digital revolution” in the NHS with a single electronic patient file, salary of staff with the European average and covering the cost of the afternoon surgeries by the state, ending privatization.
- Roof: It announced the establishment of a “Roof Bank”, the construction of 40,000 social houses and a full -bodied attack on the services, proposing the deletion of out -of -the -art interest and the imposition of occupation fees for the real estate they maintain in their portfolios.
- Civil Protection & Security: He proposed the establishment of an Independent Civil Protection Authority, the reforestation of burnt land without changing land use and the radical restructuring of ELAS by abolishing special guards and guarding “officials”. Re -submitted a proposal for the legal recognition of femaleness.
2. Freedom from stagnation:
- Taxation: It presented a sweeping plan for tax relief with a reduction in rates for 99% of taxpayers, abolition of ENFIA for real estate worth up to € 150,000, abolition of tax advance and presumption for freelancers and reducing VAT to 15%. At the same time, it proposed an increase in taxation for incomes of over € 200,000, large businesses and imposition of a bank’s surplus.
- Work: He detected the 8 -hour government at the 13 -hour government, the adoption of optimal European practices such as 4 -day work, abolishing zero -hour contracts and reinstating gifts to pensioners.
3. Freedom from national dependencies:
- Foreign Policy: He called for immediate recognition of the Palestinian state and pressure on Israel. For the Greek -Turkish, he made it clear: “No co -operation, no demilitarization”, stating that his first legislative act in Parliament will be the extension of territorial waters to 12 nautical miles.
- Energy: He proposed measures to end the manipulation of the energy market, investment in floating wind turbines and an increase in the country’s strategic reserves.
4. Freedom in Creation:
- Education: He presented a mammoth plan of € 20 billion in a five-year depth for upgrading public education at all levels, proposing the abolition of nationwide exams and replacing them with a national diploma.
- Culture: He criticized the government for a “cement” of the Acropolis and the depreciation of cultural heritage.

5. Freedom for democracy:
- Institutions: He proposed a radical institutional re-launch with a complete abolition of the law on the responsibility of ministers and parliamentary immunity, a reduction of MPs to 225, an incompatible ministerial and parliamentary status and a complete separation of state-church.
Concluding his speech, Mr Kasselakis placed the Democracy Movement at the Center of Change, calling on citizens to constantly control himself and his party, and to become involved in an effort for a “Greece of freedom, justice, perspective”.
