Kalpakis: “At the TIF we will present a completely different policy model”

SYRIZA – MS’s intention to present a new policy mix at the TIF, with the level of income boosting and reducing indirect taxes, made the secretary of the Central Committee known, Stergios Kalpakis.

“Greeks work hard but don’t get over them”

Speaking to SKAI, Mr. Kalpakis stressed that Greeks are “the toughest EU workers”, with high employment rates over 48 hours a week, but at the same time “one in two did not have a vacation this year, the country is second from the end of purchasing power and first in the open.”

Despite growth indicators and a decrease in unemployment, he said, “many are unable to get out of it, while few have lucrative billions and the state overdose.”

SYRIZA – MS proposals

SYRIZA -MS secretary noted that the answer is “a completely different policy”, which includes:

  • Restore 13th and 14th salary to public

  • Restore 13th pension

  • Reducing indirect taxes

“The net budgetary cost for the 13th and 14th salary in the State is 1.1 billion euros, which exists as a possibility,” he said. For the 13th pension he recalled that “it was instituted by SYRIZA, it was implemented, there was a budget and the ND had also voted, but which was abolished by Mr Mitsotakis”.

‘We need tax justice’

Mr. Kalpakis criticized the government’s tax policy:

“We can’t get the indirect taxes, affecting the low and medium -sized strata, and at the same time the listed to divide in dividends, taxpayers with only 5%. Is that fair? “

He concluded by saying that the great social majority need another policy mix “that will serve tax justice and truly enhance the daily lives of citizens”.
