The problem occurred during the first kilometers of the route, specifically at 6.7km, causing the train to stop and 101 passengers remaining trapped in it for several hours.
The competent authorities were immediately informed and a second train was sent to the area in order to pull the immobilized train with the passengers.

A six -member Mountaineering Research and Rescue Team of 6th EMAK arrived at the spot, which assisted the safe transportation of passengers.
Thanks to the rescue team’s coordinated efforts, at 13:50 the transfer of all passengers to a backup, which returned safely to Diakopto was completed.

“The Hellenic Train informs the passenger public that today, at 10:28, the 1330 train, which operated the Diakopto – Kalavryta route, was stopped in the area of Niama due to a technical problem.
Immediately mobilized a backup train, accompanied by a Hellenic Train technical staff, who arrived at 11:26, with the aim of towing the immobilized train. However, due to the severity of the damage, towing was not possible.
The competent authorities and civil protection were immediately informed, while the Fire Service was traveled with a backup from Diakopto in order to ensure the safe landing and transfer of 101 passengers.
With the help and supervision of the Fire Department, at 13:50 the passenger transfer was completed to the backup, which returned safely to Diakopto. There, a Bus of Hellenic Train was expected to serve those passengers who wanted to go to Kalavryta, the original destination of the route, offering water and soft drinks.
Throughout the waiting, Hellenic Train staff were next to travelers, taking care of their safety, as well as providing constant information on the development of the incident.
Due to the incident, the next routes of the trains 1332, 1336, 1333 and 1337 will not take place.
