The meeting with Jay Di Vance
On Easter Sunday noon (20.04.2025), Pope Francis was expected to make his last public appearance after 24 hours after Monday 21.04.2025, then left his last breath
In the morning, Pope Francis held a short meeting with US Vice President Jay Di Vance at Casa Santa Marta, where Pontiff resides and recovers after his 38 days of hospitalization due to pneumonia.
Vatican sources reported that the two men had simply exchanged Easter wishes. This meeting was an approach to US contacts with the Vatican, as Pope Francis has repeatedly criticized Donald Trump’s hard -mounted measures.
“It’s a pleasure to see you with better health,” the US vice president of the Pope said, according to a video released by the Holy See.
“Thank you for accepting me. I pray for you every day. May God have you well, “he said again before his hand was tightened.
Pope Francis then gave Vice President Gifts, such as a rug and a tie that brought the Vatican coat of arms. He also gave chocolate eggs for his three children.
The news of Pontiff’s death found the US Vice President in India, where he is making an official trip.
“I was just informed about the event of Pope Francis. I was pleased to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill. My heart is with millions of Christians around the world who loved him, “Vance said.
