The 36 -year -old left back started his career from Barcelona academies before transferring to Valencia in 2008. Four years later, he returned to the Catalans, with whom he raised many titles in Spain and Europe. Jordi Alba was a member of the stunning “Rochas” batch that won the European Championship in the summer of 2012!

After Busquets last week, it’s now Jordi — who still had a contract until 2027 — deciding to step away.

Jordi Alba’s announcement:
“Hi everyone, it’s time to close an important stage of my life. I made the decision to end my career as a professional footballer at the end of this season. I do it with absolute conviction, with satisfaction and with happiness.
Because I feel that I have walked this path with all possible passion. And now is the right time to start a new stage and close the previous one with the best emotions. Football has given me everything.
I thank all my teammates, coaches, staff, club officials and opponents who prompted me to give my best. I want to give special thanks to the clubs that have shaped my life. At the Atlético Centro Hospitalense, where it all started.
In Cornegia, which gave me the confidence to evolve. In Tarragona, where I learned to live in professional changing rooms and matured next to great teammates. In Valencia, the club that allowed me to realize my dream to debut in the first category.
In Barcelona, the club of my life, the one who saw me grow up as a child and allowed me to reach the climax of my career, to live more than an unforgettable decade and win every possible title. In the Spanish national team, I am proud to have wore this jersey and grateful to be part of your story. And finally, at Inter Miami, thank you for opening your doors to me, welcome me with love and gave me the opportunity to complete this journey by enjoying every last minute.
