Italy: Great Fire in Vesuvius – Burning National Park

Great fire burns the slopes of the Vesuvio volcano in Italy From Friday afternoon (08.08.2025). According to local media, flames have spread to Terzigno and Ottaviano areas, reaching an altitude of about 1,050 meters.

The dense fire smoke is visible from Naples to Italy, while authorities are talking about a “critical” situation that requires constant surveillance.

Rai’s shots, pulled by Santolo Eliano, show the fire raging uncontrollable on the slope of the mountain.

The Vesuvi National Park calls on citizens to vigilate and cooperate, stressing that it is one of the most serious fires in recent years in the region.

The fire has already destroyed a valuable pine forest and parts of the unique flora of the volcanic ecosystem. Despite the immediate risk, no losses in human lives or serious damage to homes have been reported so far.
