The Gaza Strip is “the most malnourished region in the world”, as “100% of the population is threatened by famine,” Yen Lerke, a spokesman for the UN Humanitarian Coordination Office (OCHA), said earlier in Geneva.
“A group of armed people occupied the campaign hospital in Deir al -Bala, looted large quantities of medical materialsupplies, medicines and nutritional supplements intended for children suffering from malnutrition, “the UN Secretary -General, Stefan Douzarik, said in New York.
The indirect negotiations aimed at declaring a ceasefire, which then hopes to lead to the end of the destructive war that lasts 20 months have not yet resulted in the Israeli army resumed its attack on the Palestinian pocket in mid -March.
On the night before yesterday, White House spokesman Caroline Levit said a new US proposal to declare a ceasefire was approved by Israel and underwent Hamas.
Thorn the guarantees
But shortly thereafter, Bassem Naim, an exiled leader of the movement, stressed to the French agency that this proposal does not meet Hamas’ basic demands, to the extent that it “essentially the perpetuation of the occupation, the continuation of the murders and the famine”
According to another source from the French Agency in Hamas, the movement is a complete absence of guarantees to continue talks during a ceasefire, in view of a definitive end of the war.
Hamas, however, said yesterday that she was conducting “consultations with Palestinian forces and factions” on the proposal “forwarded by Mr Whitkov through the mediators”.
