Panic scenes prevailed near Ben Gourion Airport, Tel Aviv International Airport after a rocket launched today (04.05.2025) by rebels Houthi of Yemen to the Israel.

A senior Israeli police commander, Yair Hezroni, showed reporters a crater caused by the impact of the rocket, who, according to airport authorities, fell next to a road near a parking lot of Terminal Station 3.
“You can see the scene right behind us: a crater has formed there, tens of meters in diameter and also tens of meters deep,” said Hezroni, who added that there was no significant damage.

In a statement issued after the blow, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Kats said: “Anyone who hurts us will be hit seven times more powerful».

A spokesman for the Israeli Airport Authority said the take -offs and landings have been repeated and the operation of Ben Gurion has returned to normal levels, following reports of air traffic stops and blocking roads leading to the airport.

However, some flights were affected by the rocket, according to Ben Gurion’s website for real -time air traffic.
Some flights, including Air India, Tus Airways and the Lufthansa Group, were canceled. Others, including those at Newark and JFK airport in the US, were delayed by about 90 minutes. Reuters journalist boarded a flight to Dubai who departed at the scheduled time.
Bringing responsibility for the attack, Houthi Saria military spokesman reiterated a warning to airlines that the Israeli airport “is no longer safe for air travel”.

The Israeli Council of Ministers will meet today at 19:00 local time (and Greece time), a government source said without more clarification on the agenda.
Israeli media had reported yesterday, Saturday, in convening the body, which is making strategic decisions to approve a plan to expand the Gaza military attack. The body is also convened after Ben Gurion International Airport was targeted by Yemen’s Houthi rebel offensive attack for which the Minister of Defense Israel Katos promised retaliation “seven times more powerful”.
