Iran: Nine men fought for the Islamic State – the time of their bloody arrests were executed

The state media of Iran They reported today (10.06.2025) that nine people were executed, who were accused of serving the Islamic Stateby the competent Iranian authorities.

These men were arrested in early 2018 during clashes with forces by the Islamic State, which killed three members of the Iranian revolution guards.

The nine detainees, whose nationalities were not announced, were referred to the category of ‘Moharebeh’, an Islamic term which means conducting war against God, armed uprising and possession of warfareN.

State media reported that orTan members of a group of several Islamic State fighters identified by the guards of the revolution after crossed the western border of Iran with the intention of carrying out attacks in Iranian territory.

The arrests took place months after the bloody attack carried out by the Islamic State in the Iranian Parliament in Tehran and the Mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruholhah Khomeini.

While the threats of attacks by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria have been significantly reduced after the organization’s defeat, Iran has been faced with recent bloody attacks from the offshoot of the Islamic State in Afghanistan.

According to UN HUNHCR, The number of people executed in Iran reached at least 901 in 2025 and is the highest number since 2015.
