The Energy Regulatory Authority, RAAE, is rationalizing the rules to invoices retail gasbased on the same recipe that applied to the power of electricity.
As Vice President Dimitris Fourlaris explained in this regard, the new regulatory framework has now been put into consultation, which will last one month to then be implemented on the market. It is worth noting that in the case of gas invoices, there are two categories: blue fixed and yellow floating. The central goals of the intervention are to improve transparency and the stability of contracts.
This means in practice that the consumer will receive a summary of the contract before signing the contract so that it is aware of all the characteristics of the product.
In addition, there will be no unilateral modification of fixed invoices by the supplier, and the floating will only be modified for serious reason and after the expiration of semester.
At the same time, RAAE intervenes in the way the invoices are advertised, but also in the way the final charge is calculated and presented to the consumer. According to Mr Fourlaris, to date there was no way to verify the charges on floating products and the consumer was simply paid an ad hoc price of the supplier.
The fact that the prices were not linked to a wholesale index has made it difficult to change supplier, which was observed especially in Attica and Thessaloniki.
From now on the value will be connected to an index so that the consumer can verify the formula. If any infringement is observed by suppliers, then they will be called on to listen and then there will be fines, such as those already imposed on electricity.
