The new programs will give funding from 2026 to 2032, “which is an answer to the question of what will happen when the country is deprived of the resources of the recovery fund,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. For his part, Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou said that the program was about cheaper and affordable energy without being left behind. The goal is to move to lifting inequalities. For the social climate fund, Mr Papastavrou said it has to do with Europe’s welfare to support the most vulnerable. The application will take place by 2027, this is the planning of the EU. For the Modernization Fund, Mr Papastavrou said the next submission period was in September. Through the Fund there will be a strengthening of network substations in saturated areas for RES, upgrading and digitization of the electricity network, etc.

The third fund, the Islands Fund Fund is especially important for our country. It is an ad hoc negotiating tool. It has been concluded in November 2024. The timetable is up to 2032 and the leverage amount may be much larger. The fund will change the picture on the islands, and the interconnection with a series of islands will be completed. “Our plan intends to support each of us,” he said, adding that no one should be left behind.

Energy Upgrading Student Housing

Education Minister Sofia Zacharakis said that on the issue of the Ministry of Education, the program concerns the Student Housing, but also to the transfer of students from remote areas. Through the Social Climate Fund, energy student homes will be created for vulnerable young people. The goal is energy and aesthetic for students to stay in better places.

The second part concerns the ability to move students. Competitions are barren and children are suffering. Through the Fund it will be allowed to buy electric buses, hire drivers and then have this option. “No child from any family should be excluded from the gift of education,” he said.
