An air tragedy with an unknown number of victims so far is the one noted in India. In fact, this is the first time an aircraft crashed Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which belonged to Air India, Ahmedabad.
Although the airlines using the Boeing aircraft have faced major problems with the 787 engines, so many of them were forced to capture the planes and reduce flights, its security history has been good so far.
There are more than 1,175 Boeing 787 worldwide, used by most major international airlines for over 2,100 daily flights. The model has been appreciated for much better fuel efficiency and lower noise compared to the types it has replaced.
Air transport analyst Geoffrey Thomas told CNN that the plane “did not seem to be in danger”. “It just sank and hit the ground causing a fiery ball,” he added.

What do we know so far about the accident
Air India plane crashed with 242 passengers and crew in the Western city of Ahmedabad in Guatzarat, India.
Losses: The number of victims is not immediately clear. Air India said the injured were transferred to a local hospital. 30 bodies have been recovered from a building – probably – doctors’ hostel
Destination: According to Flightradar24, AI171’s Air India flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed from Ahmedabad international airport at 1:38 pm. Local Time (4:08 am ET) to Gatwick Airport in London. The aircraft signal was lost less than a minute later, at an altitude of 625 feet.
The plane emitted SOS shortly after the take -off, according to India’s Directorate -General for Civil Aviation.
Boeing’s reaction: Boeing says she knows the situation and works to gather more information.
Nationality of the occupants: According to Air India, there were nationals from India, the United Kingdom, Canada and Portugal on the flight. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Kir Starmer described the scenes as “devastating” and said that “the situation is being informed”. India Prime Minister Narendra Monti said he is “overwhelming beyond words”.
